Garland Oven Igniters

Providing commercial cooking and refrigeration equipment for school, restaurant and industrial usage, Garland also makes several offerings that could be used in a residential setting, including electric and gas ranges--from 30-inch models to an enormous 68-inch range that comes with a double oven and 270,000 BTUs of power that can be used either in a restaurant setting or for the dedicated home chef. Ignition assemblies vary depending on the product, as Garland also offers deck-type gas and electric ovens and large-scale convection ovens. Certain models, such as the aforementioned 68-inch range have a Piezo-type ignition system, which requires no electric connection but rather consists of a spring-loaded hammer that, when triggered by a button, hits a quartz crystal. Quartz is piezoelectric, which means when the crystal is struck, it deforms, causing an electrical discharge, which ignites the gas.

Garland's History

Enodis PLC was founded in 1851 as a small grocery and pharmacy in Manchester, England, under the name SW Berisford. The company incorporated in 1910 and acquired J&H Rayner Ltd. in 1968, before expanding throughout the 1970s. After purchasing British Sugar in 1982, Berisford was forced to relinquish the company before a new acquisition stream kicked off in the 1990s, featuring such pick-ups as Welbilt Corp. and Scotsman Group. The Enodis name was initiated in 2000, at which time the company turned its complete focus to food equipment production. Last year, Manitowoc Foodservice acquired Enodis, thus obtaining the Garland brand.

Troubleshooting Garland Oven Ignitors
