Dacor Oven Ignitors
Dacor offers a full line of wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, and even independent warming drawers as a kitchen
accessory. The company's kitchen appliances come in four styles, including its custom-paneled Integrated line
and its top-of-the-line Epicure series, which features a modern look accentuated by silver, brass and chrome.
While most models offer a convection feature, the Epicure line boasts added features, such as a TiltVue Control
Panel, RapidHeat Broil Element, and a SimmerSear Burner with a separate melting feature that offers 18,000 BTUs
(based on the company's top-line Epicure model ER30DSR.). Ranges are primarily 30 inches but are available as
large as 60 inches in the Epicure Classic Dual-Fuel Range.
Dacor's History
Founded by Stan and Florence Joseph in 1965, Dacor has remained a family-owned company throughout its history.
Focused on a modern approach, Dacor says it has patented several features, including an infrared gas broiler
inside an electric oven, a Pure Convection system for even heat distribution, a Butterfly Bake Element for an
extraordinary traditional bake, and extra-large Dacor Greats that simplify cooking with large pots and pans.
Troubleshooting Dacor Oven Ignitors
For maintenance, Dacor notes that the igniter(s) won't work properly if the burner cap, burner ring, burner base
or the igniter itself are not clean. Dirty or wet ignitors may not spark at all. After disassembling the burners,
check for any dirt or grime deposited on the individual parts, including the igniters. Using the ignitor cleaning
brush that comes with the cooktop, brush completely around the igniter, including over and under the edge of the
metal top and porcelain base. The porcelain casing of the igniter is very fragile, so care must be used while
cleaning. Don't use water to clean the ignitors. If necessary, a small amount of rubbing alcohol will help
dissolve grime. Replacing ignitors in Dacor stoves can be difficult due to the inaccessibility of the igniter.
The stove has a raised ventilation system by which a thin exhaust fan plenum is supposed to lift with the touch
of a button and suck cooking fumes out of the oven itself. But to get to the ignitor, a fan speed controller and
ignitor interlock must be removed.
Warranty Information
Most appliances purchased in 2003 carry a two-year warranty (there are some exceptions). Appliances purchased in
2004 or later carry a full one-year warranty. The company also offers an extended warranty program, known as
EASE, which allows buyers to receive the same service as during the original warranty period and receive service
only from Dacor's authorized network of independent service providers, who are well-trained in servicing Dacor
appliances. The EASE plan provides coverage for an additional one to three years after the end of the initial
warranty and is renewable throughout the life of the appliance.
