White-Rodgers Furnace Ignitors
White-Rodgers is owned by Emerson Climate Technologies (itself a business division of Emerson, which is traded on the New York
Stock Exchange under the symbol EMR.)
Product Lines
The company is known for its residential and commercial thermostats, humidifiers, air cleaners and HVAC components.
White-Rodgers' nitride ignition system is known as Intell-Ignition.
The company markets a replacement system for silicon carbide hot surface ignitors called the "Universal Nitride Ignitor Upgrade Kit".
White-Rodgers igniters are used in many brands of hearing equipment including Amana and Trainco-Heatmaker furnaces.
In 2004, White-Rodgers announced a
voluntary recall of certain gas water heater temperature controls,
which presented a fire hazard.
White-Rodgers' History
White-Rodgers was formed in 1937 as Missouri Automatic Controls. The company developed hydraulic control systems for use
in heating systems. In 1961 the company was acquired by Emerson Electric (now known as Emerson Controls).
White-Rodgers' Warranty
Like many HVAC companies, White-Rodgers considers its actual customers to be the contractor or dealer that purchased
the part that is installed in your furnace. Therefore, their 12 month warranty is to the purchasing dealer rather than
the homeowner. However, as a result, your heating contractor should be able to replace a faulty part under
warranty within the first year at no cost to you. (You will likely be responsible for labor costs.)
