InterCity Furnace Ignitors
The InterCity brand is now known as International Comfort Products (ICP), part of the Carrier Corporation which
is in turn owned by United Technologies Corporation. Carrier is the world's largest manufacturer and distributor
of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. It is a $12.5 billion corporation with 41,000
employees and a presence in 170 countries.
Corporate History
The Carrier Corporation was founded in 1915 by Willis Carrier-the inventor of modern air conditioning systems-in
Farmington, Connecticut. The company entered the residential AC markets in the 1950s and was purchased by United
Technologies in 1979. It manufactures HVAC systems under the brand names Bryant, International Comfort Products,
Lind Refrigeration, Magic Air and Comfortmaker.
Product Lines
International Comfort Products manufactures and distributes HVAC equipment under several brand names and
replacement parts are available from generic parts merchants and contractors. Brand names sold by International
Comfort Products include Arcoair, Heil, Comfortmaker, Day & Night, KeepRite, and Tempstar
Factory direct hot surface ignitors cost approximately $70 and can be found though parts vendors. International
Comfort Products electronic ignitors and flame sensors for sell for about $75; the electronic ignitors and pilot
for the Heil and Tempstar furnaces also retails sells for $75
Warranties
- Arcoair and Heil brand furnace parts: 5-, 7-, and 10-year warranties are available.
- Comfortmaker, Day & Night, KeepRite and Tempstar brand furnaces: 5- or 10- year limited warranty on
functional parts.
