Evcon Furnace Ignitors
The Evcon brand is owned by Coleman of Wichita, Kansas, the company known for its line of camping gear including
gas lights and stoves. It is a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation which owns a number of well-known consumer brands
including First Alert fire alarms, Foodsaver, Oster, and Sunbeam. The Evcon brand name has been discontinued
although furnaces parts can still be found using the Evcon name or under the name Coleman. Other brand name
products by Coleman include Standard, Comforteer and Echelon.
Products Lines
Evcon/Coleman's customers are contractors and installers rather than the general public. As a result, Evcon
furnace ignitors are available from replacement parts vendors and/or furnace retailers. Generic parts usually
sell for approximately $45.
Coleman/ Evcon recently recalled a number of gas furnaces which have been overheating and can lead to the heat
exchanger and furnace to fail. If you are concerned about an Evcon ignitor or other product, contact your HVAC
contractor immediately.
Evcon/Coleman Corporate History
W.C. Coleman launched the company bearing his name over a hundred years ago, in 1900. He began by selling lamps in
Oklahoma and later moved to Kansas where the plant headquarters remain. Approximately 1,500 employees work at the
Kansas and Texas facilities.
Evcon Warranty
Evcon/Coleman provides limited product warranties of five, ten or twenty years. 10-year limited warranties cover
parts for furnaces installed after May 2009 and registered within 90 days of installation. If not registered,
parts are covered by a five year limited parts warranty. Consumers should check with their contractor/installer
for details of the warranties as they apply to their furnaces and ignitors.
